The township of Leinster is located in the Northern goldfields and the closest city is Kalgoorlie which is located 368Km south. The town is owned and operated by BHP Billiton, with a population of approximately 1400 people consisting of FIFO, contractors and residential families. Leinster is surrounded by Nickel and Gold mines and large pastoral leases.
The town was first established in 1977 and now consists of 283 residential houses, single accommodation for 800 FIFO workers, a caravan park and lodge.
Leinster's permanent infrastructure consists of a shopping centre, tavern, community hall, and sporting facilities including a gym, oval with night lights, swimming pool, and tennis/squash courts. We also have a primary school, day care, library, toy library and playgroup, police station, volunteer fire station and St Johns ambulance centre, medical centre, service station, 18 hole golf course and race track.
In town we have a few small businesses including, garden/hardware shop, mechanic workshops, car hire, courier and small airline services.
The Leinster CRC is located in the shopping centre complex next to the supermarket; this is a prime position with disabled access resulting in maximum exposure.
In the cooler months of the year being April to October we have a large number of tourist visiting our town.
